GoHighLevel review, from an agency that builds on it
GoHighLevel is worth it for a business or agency that wants its CRM, texting, email, calendars and automation in one account and will put real time into the setup. It's a weaker fit if you need deep reporting, catalog ecommerce or a tool your team can learn in an afternoon.
We run our own business on GoHighLevel and set it up for clients alongside WordPress. The difference between a smooth account and a noisy one is in the setup details, so that's where this review spends its time. There are no affiliate links on this page.
What do the review sites say about GoHighLevel?
On Trustpilot, GoHighLevel has a TrustScore of 4.9 from 15,249 reviews, with 97% at five stars and 2% at one star, as of October 22, 2026 (Trustpilot).
Read the written reviews more than any one score. The same few complaints come up across review sites, and they are listed below. One review site, The Stack Insiders, points out that much of the praise online comes from people with an affiliate link, which is worth keeping in mind as you read.
What does GoHighLevel do well?
It holds the whole front office in one account. In ours, that's the booking calendar behind our free Systems Audit, our sales pipelines, our email sequences and newsletter, course delivery through Memberships, social posting for client accounts, and our team's client email. A booking, a reply and a pipeline stage all land on the same contact.
The pricing doesn't scale by seat. Every plan includes unlimited contacts and unlimited users, per gohighlevel.com/pricing. You pay for usage instead, which we cover in what GoHighLevel really costs to run.
The agency layer works. We run social posting for every client in its own sub-account under our agency account, so each client's contacts, workflows and pipelines stay separate.
AI sits on the same records. In October 2026 we built an AI nurture agent in Conversation AI that answers by text and email and books onto our calendar. In our October 20 test, it booked, rescheduled and canceled appointments correctly from email replies.
What are the main complaints about GoHighLevel?
These are the complaints that repeat across review sites and practitioner write-ups.
- The learning curve. G2 reviewers describe a steep learning curve and an interface that overwhelms new users (G2).
- Support. Capterra reviewers report long waits and repeated escalations (Capterra).
- The wallet. Reviewers report that the wallet auto-recharge can't be turned off (Trustpilot).
- Email deliverability. GHL Scale Up scores deliverability 3.0 out of 5 and ties most problems to missing DKIM, SPF and DMARC records.
- Cost above the sticker price. Affiliate roundups put a realistic monthly bill at $200 to $600 (The Stack Insiders).
- Speed and settings. Capterra reviewers call the interface slow at times, and Marketing Automation Insider notes settings scattered across several menus.
Setup details we check on every build
These come from running our own account.
One confirmation per booking. A calendar sends its own default confirmation alongside any workflow emails, and a calendar with no meeting location leaves the "Meeting Link / Location" line blank. Save a location, turn off the default confirmation, and add a one to two minute Wait at the top of the workflow.
Exact appointment statuses. Check that each appointment workflow filters on the exact appointment status you mean, so no-show and cancellation messages stay separate.
Every sender for one event. A course purchase can trigger a workflow email, the Memberships login email (set on the offer, not in any workflow) and a gamification badge email. Set a brand name on the Client Portal so the login email reads correctly, and before you go live, list every place that can send an email for the same event.
The sender on every workflow. An account can show a verified sending domain while individual workflows still send from GoHighLevel's shared domain. Check the sender on every workflow that sends something important.
Hard bounces tagged out. Hard bounces aren't set to Do Not Disturb automatically. Tag them from the campaign's Hard bounced tab and remove the opt-in tag, so they don't get mailed again.
Campaign settings after a clone. Campaigns are built in the email builder, and cloning a sent campaign copies the HTML and preview text but not the sender, reply-to, subject or recipients. Set those fresh on every clone.
Social Planner limits. Reels posted through it go out without music, one caption cross-posts to Instagram and Facebook, and insights show likes, comments and shares only. Connected social accounts can need a reconnect, so check them before a scheduled week.
Booking tracking. The embedded calendar runs in a cross-origin iframe, so GA4 never sees a booking. Point the calendar's confirmation redirect at a thank-you page on your own site and track that page.
Testing with a real contact. There's no dry run. Testing a workflow means a real test contact with real tags, and drafts don't enroll anyone.
The card on file. Every sub-account runs on the agency subscription, so the billing card belongs on the maintenance checklist.
More of these, by workflow type, are in GoHighLevel automations.
What does GoHighLevel really cost?
The plans are $97, $297 and $497 a month as of October 2026 (gohighlevel.com/pricing). Texts, calls, email sends and AI are billed on top from a prepaid wallet. One third-party estimate puts a single business on Starter at $120 to $200 a month all in (Ruzuku). Every rate is in what GoHighLevel really costs to run.
Who should use GoHighLevel, and who should skip it?
Use it if your follow-up, booking and marketing are spread across several tools and you want them on one contact record, or if you're an agency serving several clients that each need their own account.
Skip it or wait if you need catalog and inventory ecommerce, field-service dispatch, or only a simple CRM (GHL Scale Up), or if your team depends on custom objects and deep reporting, where third-party comparisons give HubSpot the edge (Simular). See GoHighLevel vs HubSpot and Is GoHighLevel a CRM?

- Is GoHighLevel good for beginners?
- It takes time to learn. G2 reviewers describe a steep learning curve, and third-party estimates for getting comfortable run from two to four weeks to 60 to 90 days.
- Does GoHighLevel have good email deliverability?
- Deliverability comes down to setup. Authenticate your sending domain with SPF, DKIM and DMARC, then check the sender on each workflow, because GoHighLevel picks the sending domain per workflow.
- What are the hidden costs of GoHighLevel?
- Texts, calls, email sends, AI and some workflow actions are billed by usage from a wallet that refills from your card. Every rate is on our GoHighLevel pricing page.
- Who should not use GoHighLevel?
- Businesses that need catalog and inventory ecommerce, field-service dispatch or only a simple CRM. Teams that depend on custom objects and deep reporting are better served by a dedicated CRM.
