Is GoHighLevel a CRM?
Yes, GoHighLevel is a CRM. It stores contacts, tracks deals through sales pipelines, scores leads and keeps every text, email and message with the contact record, and HighLevel sells it on its own site as "The Agency CRM built to scale every client you serve."
The CRM is one part of a wider platform. HighLevel describes the whole product as "an AI-powered, all-in-one sales and marketing platform" (llms.txt), so the same account that holds your contacts also sends the texts and emails, books the appointments and runs the automations. We run our own sales pipelines in it and set it up for clients alongside WordPress.
What does the GoHighLevel CRM include?
From HighLevel's CRM page, llms.txt and its workflow trigger and action lists:
- Contacts with custom fields, tags, smart lists, notes, tasks and Do Not Disturb settings.
- Pipelines and opportunities, with deal tracking and visual pipeline stages.
- Lead scoring through a Contact Engagement Score, which workflows can trigger on.
- A unified inbox for SMS, Facebook Messenger, Instagram DMs, WhatsApp and live chat, tied to the contact.
- Calendars and booking, with appointments on the contact record.
- Documents and contracts, estimates and invoices.
- Workflow automation that can create and update contacts and opportunities, assign users and move deals between stages.
- A mobile app for iOS and Android.
Every plan includes the CRM, starting with Starter at $97 a month with unlimited contacts and unlimited users, as of October 2026 (gohighlevel.com/pricing). HIPAA compliance is a $297-a-month add-on.
How do pipelines work in GoHighLevel?
A pipeline is a set of stages a deal moves through, and each deal is an opportunity attached to a contact. Workflows can fire when an opportunity is created, when its status changes, when it moves to a new pipeline stage, or when it goes stale (workflow triggers). That last trigger is the one that catches deals nobody followed up on.
One of our own pipelines uses these stages.
| Pipeline | Stages |
|---|---|
| Systems Audit | Booked, Showed, Takeaway sent, Proposal sent, Won or Lost |
Pipeline stages are set up in the GoHighLevel interface. The public API can move deals between stages, but it can't create or split stages, so plan your stages before you build workflows around them.
Is GoHighLevel a CRM or a marketing tool?
It's both. A traditional CRM records what happened with a customer, and you connect other tools to send the emails and texts. GoHighLevel records it and sends them, from the same account. One outlier review claims GoHighLevel has no CRM component at all (Groupboss), and HighLevel's own CRM page shows otherwise.
Where is GoHighLevel thinner than a dedicated CRM?
Third-party reviewers agree on the same short list (The Stack Insiders, Simular, Omni Online Strategies):
- Custom objects. Fewer ways to model records beyond contacts and opportunities.
- Reporting and attribution. Lighter than HubSpot or Salesforce.
- Quoting and call-center tooling.
- Enterprise permissions.
If your sales process depends on those, compare it with HubSpot first. Our GoHighLevel vs HubSpot page puts the two side by side with October 2026 prices.
What we've learned running a CRM in GoHighLevel
These come from our own account.
Hard bounces stay mailable. GoHighLevel doesn't set hard-bounced contacts to Do Not Disturb automatically. We tag them from the campaign's Hard bounced tab and remove the opt-in tag, so they drop out of the next send.
Save the lead before you send it to GoHighLevel. Store each form submission on your own site first, then send it to a GoHighLevel workflow, so a GoHighLevel outage never loses a lead.
The embedded calendar hides bookings from analytics. It runs in a cross-origin iframe, so GA4 can't see a booking. Point the calendar's confirmation redirect at a thank-you page on your own site and track that.
One Google account per sub-account. GoHighLevel connects one Google account to each sub-account, so decide which one runs your calendar sync before you connect anything else.
More setup lessons are in our GoHighLevel review.
Can GoHighLevel replace HubSpot or Salesforce?
For a small team that wants contacts, pipelines, follow-up and booking in one place, it can. GoHighLevel's October 2026 changelog lists a HubSpot import with a filter for choosing which records come over. For technical teams, the HighLevel MCP server exposes contacts, conversations, opportunities and pipelines to AI tools that support MCP. Teams that rely on custom objects and deep reporting will find it thinner than either one.
How much does the GoHighLevel CRM cost?
The CRM comes with every plan. Starter is $97 a month, Unlimited is $297 and Agency Pro is $497, as of October 2026, with texts, calls, email and AI billed by usage on top. Every rate is in what GoHighLevel really costs to run, and the automations worth building on the CRM first are in GoHighLevel automations.
