What is GoHighLevel?

Published October 22, 2026

GoHighLevel is an all-in-one sales and marketing platform that puts a CRM, texting, email, calendars, websites and workflow automation in one account. Businesses use it to capture leads, follow up by text and email, book appointments and bring past customers back, and agencies use it to run those same systems for their clients under their own brand.

The company calls itself HighLevel, and its homepage describes the product as "the AI-powered business operating system." We build on it for our own business and for clients, alongside WordPress, and this page covers what it does, what it costs to start and who it fits. Prices are as of October 2026 and come from gohighlevel.com/pricing.

What is GoHighLevel used for?

GoHighLevel is used to replace a stack of separate tools with one account. In HighLevel's own feature list, that account covers:

  • CRM and pipelines. Contacts, custom fields, tags, lead scoring and deal tracking through sales pipelines.
  • Conversations. One inbox for SMS, Facebook Messenger, Instagram DMs, WhatsApp and live chat, plus Voice AI for inbound and outbound calls.
  • Email and SMS marketing. Broadcasts, newsletter automation, two-way texting, ringless voicemail and missed-call text-back.
  • Calendars and booking. Scheduling, paid appointments and reminders.
  • Workflow automation. A visual builder where a trigger (a form submitted, an appointment booked, a stage changed) starts a series of actions.
  • Websites, funnels and landing pages. A drag-and-drop builder, plus WordPress hosting as an add-on.
  • Reputation management. Automated review requests, AI-drafted replies and review widgets.
  • Payments. Invoices, order forms, text-to-pay, tap-to-pay, gift cards and loyalty.
  • Memberships, courses and communities.
  • Social planner and ad manager for Google, Facebook and Instagram.
  • A mobile app for iOS and Android.

Because the CRM and the messaging live in the same place, a lead from a form and a reply to a text land on the same contact record, and one workflow can text, email and book that person.

In our own account we run the booking calendar behind our free Systems Audit, our sales pipelines, our email sequences, course delivery through GoHighLevel Memberships, and social posting for every client account through the Social Planner, one sub-account per client. In October 2026 we built an AI nurture agent in Conversation AI that answers leads by text and email and books calls onto that same calendar.

Who is GoHighLevel built for?

HighLevel says it builds the platform for "marketing agencies, freelancers, and business owners." The agency side is what sets it apart from a standard CRM. An agency account holds sub-accounts (one per client), snapshots, rebilling of phone and email costs, and on the top plan a SaaS Mode and white label, so an agency can sell the platform under its own name.

A business owner can buy GoHighLevel directly and run one account, or have an agency set it up. When we set it up for a client, we work in the account the business already owns or build a new one, and the account and the workflows belong to the business after handoff.

Who is GoHighLevel not a fit for?

Reviewers who build on it name a few cases where another tool serves better. GHL Scale Up's review points to catalog and inventory ecommerce, field-service dispatch, and businesses that only need a simple CRM or only a website. Comparisons from Simular and Omni Online Strategies add that it isn't an enterprise CRM, with fewer custom objects, lighter reporting and fewer deep integrations than Salesforce or HubSpot.

How much does GoHighLevel cost?

As of October 2026, GoHighLevel has three published plans, per gohighlevel.com/pricing:

PlanMonthlyAnnualSub-accounts
Starter$97$9703
Unlimited$297$2,970Unlimited
Agency Pro$497$4,970Unlimited

Enterprise pricing is by quote. Starter includes unlimited contacts, unlimited users and all core features. There's no free plan, and the free trial runs 14 days.

The plan price is where the bill starts. Texts, calls, email sends, AI and some workflow steps are billed by usage on top of it. We break down every rate, with worked examples, in what GoHighLevel really costs to run.

Is GoHighLevel a CRM?

Yes. HighLevel sells it on its own CRM page as "The Agency CRM built to scale every client you serve," with contacts, pipelines, lead scoring and a shared inbox. The CRM is one part of the platform, and the same account also sends the messages and runs the automations. We cover what it includes and where it's thinner in Is GoHighLevel a CRM?

Does GoHighLevel have AI?

Yes. HighLevel's help center lists Conversation AI (a messaging agent that answers questions, qualifies leads and books appointments), Voice AI (inbound and outbound calls), Agent Studio (a node-based editor for custom agents), Managed Agents, Workflow AI actions such as Decision Maker and Summarize, Reviews AI and Content AI, per AI Tools in HighLevel.

AI is billed by usage, or through an AI Employee plan at $50 or $97 a month per sub-account as of October 2026 (AI Product Pricing). We cover which automations and agents to build first in GoHighLevel automations.

How do you get started with GoHighLevel?

Start the 14-day trial on gohighlevel.com/pricing. Billing starts automatically when the trial ends unless you cancel, and phone and other third-party usage fees can apply during the trial.

Plan for a learning period. Third-party estimates for getting comfortable range from two to four weeks (GHL Scale Up) to 60 to 90 days (Ciela). The setup that takes the most thought is the business side: which forms feed which pipeline, what a new lead receives in the first hour, and who on your team owns each step. Our GoHighLevel review lists the setup details we check on every build.
